Te Uru Game

WALT participate in the learning of others.
Success Criteria: Be active, participate in a new cultural game,
use our listening skills, watch, ask questions and practise.

On Tuesday a class called 10CH from Greymouth High School
came to Karoro School and they had taught Room 1 a game called Te Uru.
We are doing this because it builds on our transition to high school.

There were three groups that Room 1 were split up in. In my group
there was me, Grace, Caitlyn, Lincon, Zoe, Caleb and Joshua.
The class from the high school split up as well in 3 groups to show
us different skills and drills for the game.

The first drill my group got taught was defending and getting the ball off
the opposition we also passed the ball around. The second one we went
to was learning how to catch the ball with one flat hand and learn how to
jump on a cone. The last one was just saying someone’s name before you
threw it to them. My favourite drill was the one that was like
“Piggy in the Middle” and you tried to get out of the middle by
intercepting the ball.

I would suggest that they have two games playing at once and four even
teams because we would all get even amount of turns.

Designing A Logo

Today in Ms Chowfin's class we were learning to create our own google logo. We got to change the colors of the letters and change the background to a theme and even put a background sound in. We watched a video to help us on how we start this and what we do.
