Success Criteria: For this activity, you are asked to watch a short video of someone weaving a fish (ika) out of flax.

On your blog, tell us whether or not you would like to try your hand at flax weaving. Does it interest you? Why or why not?

I would actually like to try flax weaving. I would want to try a complex one to
challenge myself or to try a new skill. Yes It does interest me on how people had learned how to flax weave without a video back in the old days before they could search up how to flax weave. I could also try weave a money purse to put my money in because i’m always losing my money or just wasting it.

Activity 2 Week Two Day One, The Great Taupo Cycle Challenge (4 points)

Three people that I would choose to go on my support crew would be Milan, Hannah and Rebekah. I would choose Milan because she is very funny and crazy and will keep me laughing and I would have more fun. I would

pick Hannah because she is very supportive and can help me when something

goes wrong and she's very caring. I will pick Rebekah as well

because she loves to bike, she bikes everyday to school and

probably has more knowledge of situations in biking more than others.

This is a photo of me doing a safe cycling task from school.

I have chosen a photo of me biking because I love to bike around Greymouth and bike new tracks. I also bike around and do my junk mail run on my bike on Tuesdays and Fridays delivering 497 papers on those both days together for a week. I like to do this when I want to get out of my boring home and try new challenges and activities. This is one of my favourite summertime activities because I like the feeling of not being on my bed singing or dancing stupidly to myself.

I have been living in Greymouth, New Zealand for 12 years, I am 12.

Aotearoa the land of the long white cloud you wake up and take a breath of the fresh kiwi air. The beautiful lush bush surrounds everywhere you look. The sound of the trickling water falling from the sky and hitting your roof. The bright blood red poppies bloom out onto fresh green fields. A cold camping night you can hear the buzzing of the mosquitoes
and the vampire like sand flies come out to bite. Bustling crowds of tourists stride along the streets of New Zealand. Glistening white snow sprinkles along the peak of the maunga's(mountains).

or a family member telling them about your trip to the tundra.

Dear Mum,

thank you for sending me on this trip it is a new experience
so far. I never knew what it felt like to be in  place so dry and
empty but now I do. When I was staying there it sort of felt and sounded
like what a desert would. It was very cold, although at night it was warmer
for some reason. Once again mum, I am really enjoying this new experience
thank you.

Week One Day Five Activity 1 (4 points)

Success Criteria: On your blog tell us whether you think logging should be allowed in New Zealand. Be sure to provide at least two reasons to support your argument.

I think logging helps us humans from the wood made into paper but mostly I don’t think logging should be allowed in New Zealand.

I think it shouldn’t be allowed in New Zealand because when these builders cut down trees its actually killing animals that are living in that tree. They are also forcing them to rebuild and find a  home somewhere else but then that tree might get cut down as well they moved to, so this cycle goes over and over again.

Another reason that might be the same is that its not only killing our common birds such as the sparrow birds it’s killing our native birds like the tui, black robins and the New Zealand bellbird.

I also think that we can still log in Aotearoa. I just think we only can used a specific amount of trees for logging so it decreses the number of native trees, birds and their homes.

But not only the native birds the logging is also killing the native trees such as the endangered pine tree, rimu, totara, pohutukawa etc.

Personal Comment: I strongly believe that logging is not a good thing here to be doing in New Zealand because of all the reasons above.
