Climate Change Speech

Climate Change

What if climate change were to overtake the world?

Do you have any idea what climate change is? Climate change is when temperature patterns occur and  trigger
the environment to change around us.

You would assume that everyone would like to prevent climate change;
you are quite mistaken.  Numerous authorities throughout the world
don't desire to stop climate change. An important reason why heaps
of people do not want to stop climate change is because of the costs
involved. Paying for things that would make a difference to our world
would probably be a great thing to do, but the money that individuals
need to spend is hard for some people.

The impact climate change has on the world is dreadful. We need
to stop using plastics and polluted materials immediately.
The world is changing so fast, the ocean levels are rising, heat
waves are causing people to go to hospitals and be horribly ill
and animals are having to migrate.

Meanwhile, during the time when China had gathered all of our
waste and recycled it, that was better than it is now because
the rubbish was only going to that one country. Now we buy
Chinese products on a day to day basis with no place to  recycle
our rubbish anymore. Did you know that 91% of the Earth is
littered with plastics? This is because we don't know what to
do with our rubbish anymore. Only 9% of the total waste was
recycled, 12% was incinerated, and 79% was just thrown into
the environment to get rid of.

Have you ever seen someone throw their rubbish out the window
of a car, just to get rid of it?  I have. Dumping your waste out of
your vehicle's window is making climate change occur quicker.
You want to prevent climate change right?   Throwing your rubbish
out of your window is making it closer to the ocean, how? When you
get rid of your trash by letting go of it on the road; cars are driving
past at the same speed, you actually lift it off the ground making
waste blow around towards the ocean.

We already know that the ice caps are melting, but do we ever think what might be inside of them? Ice, that is thousands of
years old is melting with harmful viruses and bacteria, how? Well,
when ice caps melt they flow into the water, then all these bacteria
from the ice caps travel to many countries connected to the ocean
water. Yet many thousands of people swim in the oceans and drink
very harmful liquids. This is an enormous thing in climate change
that we need to deal with. We need to provide clean water and
reduce the tremendous amount of plastics.

There are multiple ways and preventions we as New Zealanders
can do to decrease the chance of climate change happening.
The obvious thing that everyone in the world can see is happening
is pollution with plastics. Companies need to stop using or producing
large quantities of plastics. You could probably see that most
supermarkets have stopped using plastic bags and have started
to use material bags made out of recyclable rubbish. This is
perfect for the environment.

Did you know that in 2014, there were 1.2 billion drivers in
the world? Can you even imagine how much carbon monoxide
is being placed in the world?  All vehicles release a lot of
gases every time you turn on your car and drive around.
Even doing manageable things like walking, biking, or using
buses for loads of people to use at once would be an improvement.

Planting trees would actually help out the environment a lot,
how? Well, when several air pollutants are being put into the
environment trees actually gather all the air to survive.
So planting heaps of trees would actually help the air pollution.
Cutting down trees is horrible for the environment, we need
to do more reforestation, and less deforestation.

Time is running out, people’s homes are soon to be under water,
animals habitats are in danger, our world is slowly coming apart.

In conclusion we need to start taking action right now on
climate change. Pollution, trees, vehicles etc need to be dealt
with to help our environment and for everyone to have a chance
at life. World famous naturalist and climate change absurdist
David Attenborough said, “It may not seem obvious but we are
facing a manmade disaster; climate change. If we have not
made dramatic action in the next decade, we could face
irreversible damage to the natural world and the collapse
of our societies.”
We need to listen to what he is saying and take action now
in the next decade otherwise things may happen we cannot
change. You want everyone to have a chance at life right?
